A Film-Theatre Production by Rima Chibb & Smita Bharti Rubaru RK Russia is an unassuming psychological drama with multifarious layers and reflects an exposition of the contradiction within our external and internal world. The world being the stage, each one of us has an actor, performer, the real and unreal within us. At an emotional level, Rubaru is about connecting with oneself with our inner reality and coming to terms with our personal truth which often masquerades behind the civilised lies we live with .The creation of this show has its roots in the looming recession scenario as the fear of the unknown brings out the unpredictable. The face of this film theatre production has a light-hearted storyline of 7 characters who are the members of a maverick travelling theatre troupe who have been performing successful shows inspired by Raj Kapoor films. This musical extravaganza with choreographed performances has a subtext revealed through film imagery which visualises their core being. Each character in the play has an alter image which (s) he faces, resolves and redeems to make the final choice. Enriched with nostalgia and an intense behind the scene stories, the characters live with the shadows of their past which governs their present.
